Zen Maker Lab is proud to offer maker classes at our headquarters in beautiful North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Our programs cover a variety of maker topics and students will enjoy real life access to highly specialized equipment at our leading edge maker lab facility – aimed at stimulating tomorrow’s digital creators. Our programs at our maker lab in North Vancouver includes access to 3D printers (ABS and PLA filament printers and a powder printer), scanners, 3D design software, laser cutters, CNC mills & lathes, electronics benches, large format printing, vinyl cutters, laminators and more, and more. We also offer our Zen Maker Academy programs remotely and can bring the innovation to your school, library, company or special event with our Maker Lab 2Go service.

Digital Platform

With Zen Maker Lab Digital Academy you can continue your learning 24x7

One of the benefits of taking a Zen Maker Lab program is that you have access to our digital platform where you can access project files (e.g. laser cutting and 3D design files) and where you can join our online forum and ask questions of your fellow makers as well as our staff.

Parents can access photos from our PD Days, after school programs and camps. Teachers can access helpful resources to help integrate maker projects in their classes and administrators can get tips on setting up a maker lab.

If you have taken one of our programs or have registered for an upcoming program you can sign up today for free!

Spring Break Camps

spherebotOur spring break camps at Zen Maker Lab are memorable, educational and best of all, a lot of fun!

For kids that are coming to Zen Maker Lab for their first time, the camp will be a "sampler" covering an introduction to art and sketching, 3D design and 3D printing, coding, Minecraft and 3D printing, bridge building, metal works, electronics, Arduino and more.

For kids that have already taken this starter maker camp before, we will get them focused on a more advanced maker project, such as a drawbot (a programmable robot that draws), an eggbot (a robot controlled by code that draws easter egg designs), a robotic arm, a mini-drone or a wearable tech fashion project.

Summer Camps

This Summer, Zen Maker Lab, will once again be hosting a number of unique maker camps where kids will learn about science, technology, engineering, art and math!

For the last two years, our camps have sold out and we anticipate the same this year so best not to wait until the last minute to register.

From art, 3D design14079972799_80289807d9_z and printing, to electronics and Python coding with Raspberry Pi, from Minecraft mods, and robotics to an engineering project, your kids will be introduced or expand their existing skills in this important area.  No experience necessary!  It's a great way for your child to have fun while learning some really useful skills, helping prepare them for the future.

This year we will be adding some 3D 360 and VR with a Google cardboard Virtual Reality Kit!  We will also be introducing some wearable technology using flextronics! Finally we will have a new aquafarm from our partner Purity Aqua Farms. We have lots of new equipment since last year as well including the Carvey.

PD Day Camps for Kids

"Best camp ever" is the most common feedback we hear from kids in our PD Camps!

We have you covered for PD Days with our 10 maker tech sampler PD camp sessions in the 2016/2017 school year for kids 7-12 years old!

This hands-on workshop is held at Zen Maker Lab in North Vancouver, the leading maker lab in the Lower Mainland with a focus on kids and educators.

No previous maker experience required. For those new at Zen Maker Lab, there are four sessions that participants rotate around to during the day.

1 - 3D design, 3D printing and 3D scanning - design and print a 3D model and get scanned for a mini-me 3D print

2 - Intro to electronics - build a circuit board

3 - Arduino project - laser cut and program an LED display

4 - Coding & the Mirobot - learn to code with a drawing robot

For kids that have already done one of our sampler days or summer/spring camps, they will instead work in a group on a custom maker project such as building a mini-drone, designing jewellery or making a 3D printed mini-town.

PD Camps for Teachers

Back by popular demand, we are pleased to offer 10 maker tech day sessions for educators in the 2016/2017 school year!

This hands-on workshop is held at Zen Maker Lab in North Vancouver, the leading maker lab in the Lower Mainland with a focus on kids and educators.

This is geared towards teachers, librarians and administrators in K-12 although educators from post-secondary or others interested are welcome. No previous maker experience required, just a desire to learn and have fun!
