We just announced our Spring 2018 program and registration is now available!

Zen Maker Lab is proud to offer an advanced academy program for kids 8-15 at our headquarters in beautiful North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is a great program for children and youth that want to build further on the skills learned from our Zen Maker Club, Spring and Summer camps and other programs.

This program covers a variety of maker topics and students will enjoy real life access to highly specialized equipment and experienced industry instructors at our leading edge maker lab facility – aimed at stimulating tomorrow’s digital creators.

Our Monday program from 4 to 6 pm is focused on 3D design and 3D printing although we also have some sessions on website development, printing and design.

Wednesday is our main Zen Maker Academy day!

We have a daytime program on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 2:00 pm (ages 8 to 12 years taught by Tom Dowad with a focus on electronics). Students will be making gadgets that tie into an MP3 player most kids built in previous programs. For kids that are new to this program and haven’t yet built their MP3 player, they can get help building it towards the beginning of the program (extra cost for the mp3 player).

Our after school session from 4 to 6 pm is a repeat of the daytime program with a focus on electronics and coding and making gadgets that tie into an MP3 player.

We also have an evening program from 6:30 pm to 8 pm that is tailored towards older kids 12 to 15 years old (or younger kids with equivalent experience) that are interested in making something that can potentially be commercialized. This is taught by Cyri Jones (business focus) and Fardin Barekat (engineering focus). Students in the after school program can register for this evening program in addition to the afternoon program if they like. Dinner (pizza or BBQ) can be provided at a small additional cost.

Session sizes are kept to a maximum of eight participants per instructor to ensure everyone gets a lot of individual attention. In the event that there are less than three participants registered, Zen Maker Lab reserves the right to cancel a program and provide a full refund.

Our programs at our maker lab in North Vancouver includes access to 3D printers (ABS and PLA filament printers and a powder printer), scanners, 3D design software, laser cutters, CNC mills & lathes, electronics benches, large format printing, vinyl cutters, laminators, AR/VR headsets and more.
