Zen Maker Club – PRUSA 3D Printer Build – After School Program – Gleneagles Elementary
April 6 @ 2:45 pm - June 8 @ 4:15 pm
This 8-week after school program will run on Mondays from 2:45 pm to 4:15 pm from April 6 to June 8, 2020! Note, there are no classes on Monday, April 13th, 2020 due to Easter Monday or May 18th, 2020 for Victoria Day. This program is intended for students in Grades 4-7.
Glen Eagles is building a brand new 3D printer to amplify the creativity and design capabilities of their students! This program, lead by Electrical Engineer and 3D Printer Guru Zachary Anderson, is a great opportunity to give back to your school and to learn about quality design. Students interested in Electronics, Mechanics, Design or Engineering will benefit from learning about technical design, exploring the components that make up 3D printers, and working with their hands. Printers contain a number of actuators, sensors, and control components for students to explore such as Stepper motors, Lead Screws, Timing Belts, PINDA sensors, and MicroControllers. The Prusa Slicer is the software for printing out models and students will learn about advanced options to bring out the best in their designs and creations. Registration includes all supply costs.
To provide a high instructor to student ratio and to provide a very engaging experience, we are limited to a maximum of 6 children in this program. Registration priority will be given to students at Gleneagles Elementary. If there are extra spots available then kids from the community will be eligible to register.
The program is intended for Grades 4 to 7. Some exceptions can be made for kids in Grades 3 with strong interest and some experience.
Note: We cover a lot of material in a short time and require participants to be respectful of their instructors as they would their daytime teachers and to not disrupt other participants through bad behavior . We reserve the right to exclude kids from our program that are disruptive that prevent the other participants from learning. In this case, a refund will be issued on a prorated basis. For any behavioural issues, we will first attempt to address with the participant and then with the parent if necessary. This is a rare occurance but where there are behavioral problems, in order for the experience to be enjoyable and educational for the other participants, we reserve the right to limit access to this program.
