We have a diverse team of experienced industry people at Zen Maker Lab. We are educators, technologists, engineers, artists, coders - together we offer a multidisciplinary approach to science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) programs and services.

Arian Rahimian

Arian Rahimian is an animator and graphic designer.He has graduate from Vancouver Film School in animation, 3D modeling, and visual effects. He has been working in professional industry for over 5 years and worked in different areas such as game industry, advertisement and graphic design.  As a motivated and creative artist his priority is being educationally updated. He believes to create an outstanding art piece regardless of the medium whether it's a graphic design or animation  you have to face the fears and create what you believe in. As Walt Disney said quote "First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare".

Brad Howe

An Integration specialist with 20 years of progressive experience in implementing strategic Technology solutions through effective planning and design.  My background includes IT security, architecture, engineering, and development.  I help companies with technology strategy and Keep up-to-date on technology trends, standards, and compliance regulations. I extraordinarily result-focused and quick to take ownership, accountability, deliver on projects, and resolve incidents with tenacity. In summary, a unique Technology professional with certifications across multiple technical disciplines combined with strong interpersonal skills.

Carla Vecino

Carla has over ten years’ experience working in communications in Colombia including as a freelance journalist, a producer and journalist for Telemundo and as a journalist in the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She completed her Liberal Arts degree at the Universidad de La Sabana and completed the Civic Engagement Certificate from Simon Fraser in Vancouver, BC, where she now resides. Her areas of expertise include stakeholder relations, eliciting requirements, project management, and international business and cross-cultural communications.

Cathy Brydon

Cathy is our metal work and jewelry instructor and has been popular with the kids at our Zen Maker Camps. She is a marketing and communications specialist with a BBA (Marketing) from Simon Fraser University.

Cyri Jones

Cyri is the founder and chief bottle washer at Zen Maker Lab. He has over 20 years of business experience specializing in marketing, information technology, entrepreneurship & project management. He is a faculty member at Capilano University and BCIT. He has a B.Sc. from the University of Guelph and an MBA from UBC.

Elaheh Khorvash

Ela is a materials engineer who finds it fascinating to go through the process of researching and developing new materials to improve designs and prototypes in different areas. She enjoys sports. Volleyball and tennis are her passion.

Fardin Barekat

Fardin is an electrical and mechanical engineer with eight years of experience. His past experiences include research and development in the automotive industry, industrial application, automation and sensing, machine learning, neural networks, and facial recognition. He graduated from UBC's Electrical Engineering program and is a self-taught mechanical engineer.

Greg Beaudin

Greg is a trained floorball, hockey, and golf instructor, with a technology, sales and marketing background. Regarded as a change maker, visionary and a modern entrepreneur, Greg is an innovator and champion of Cause Marketing.

Jason Madar

Jason Madar is our coding and mobile development guru. He is a faculty member at Langara College and Capilano University and is the founder of an innovative 3D coding platform, c3d.org. Jason has been an instructor at our summer camps and is an instructor in our Zen Maker Lab Academy. Jason was the former CTO of Vandrico, one of the companies that used to have office space at Zen Launchpad upstairs. He has a M.Sc. in Computer Science from UBC.

Kelly Nichols

Educational consultant and STEAM facilitator focusing on initiatives and projects related to 21st century teaching.  With a Bachelors of Education degree and a Masters of Educational Technology candidate, she provides expertise on best practices in educational technology, information literacy, and accessible education.

Nathan Dolton

Nathan has been with Zen Maker Lab since the beginning and he is the go to guy for difficult hardware and software questions. Nathan runs our 3D printer repair service and is on our maker project kit development team. He seems to always be our articulate media guy when the press comes here whether it's Microsoft or YTV looking for some technology insights.

Zachary Anderson

Zachary is an electrical engineer graduate from UBC. His capacities cover different angles from the engineering perspective, micro-controllers, coding, cloud, and designs. At the same time, his creativity and innovation have made him a great anchor in our streaming program DesignMakePlay.

Kousha Hashemi

Kousha integrates the amazing world of hardware with software. As a printed circuit board designer, embedded system developer, and project manager who enjoys robotics, Kousha has also ventured into the business world, recently completing a Business Information Systems program at BCIT.

Asif Al Noor

Asif has worked in communications and nano satellites. He is curious about facts and loves teaching. Asif is inspired by the sheer vastness of space and the technological innovations that powers engineers to reach out for the stars!

Choong-Hoon Kwak

I am a software engineer that graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. My background is mostly on software multimedia signal processing. I’m passionate about education. When I am not playing piano, my focus is on STEAM robotics and coding.
